Drowning cases rise alarmingly

PANJIM: After six rescues on the first week-end of the month, over a dozen beach visitors have been rescued from drowning on the beaches of Goa in the last four days of last week.

Eight persons were rescued only from the populated Calangute beach. A surge of incidents that kept the Drishti lifeguards on their toes last weekend when they rescued nine persons. 

Baga witnessed two single rescues of tourists from Maharahstra. Coincidentally, there were two single rescues at Dudhsagar of a 33-year-old from Hyderabad and 37-year-old from Gujarat, who suffered from breathing difficulty while swimming.
