There are many migrant workers residing in the village of Navelim. Many landlords rented out their premises. One is not sure whether proper records are kept by the landlords. Therefore just to keep track of all the migrant workers in Goa, it would be important that every village panchayat takes the survey of the migrants residing in rented rooms in the villages. The records of the landlords who keep the migrant workers must also be furnished. Recently, the Chandor-Cavorim panchayat has undertaken such type of work. The panchayat then informed the villagers during the gram sabha. If other panchayats also take up such work, it would go a long way in preventing untoward incidents in villages.
