PONDA: Bandora villagers said, Wednesday, that the local panchayat has already revoked the NOC granted for setting up a sewage treatment plant (STP) in the village and lashed out at the Goa State Pollution Control Board for claiming that safety demonstration has already been held by its technical committee on January 30.
The villagers also expressed anger at the Pollution Board for asking them to be present for a demonstration at the site on ‘February 30’, a date that does not exist in the calendar.
Addressing the media, Undir residents Gurudas Naik and Surel Tilve asked the Pollution Board not to create confusion in the minds of locals when the panchayat has already revoked NOC granted for STP.
Naik, who is leading the agitation against the STP, has asked the Pollution Control Board to state when its technical committee held demonstration in village on safety of STP, who were the committee members and who were the villagers who attended the demonstration.
Displaying the revocation order of the panchayat to the media, Naik said that according to the order, the NOC for the STP was revoked on the demands of Undir residents and for failure to disclose the location of the plant.
Naik alleged that even after the revocation of NOC, the work of laying sewerage pipelines, construction of wells and chambers for STP is going on in the village.
