CALANGUTE, SEPT 22
Arpora Sporting defeated Milagres Sports Club Mapusa 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of St. Savio Rolling Trophy football tournament organised by St. Savio Sports Club at Calangute Association ground on Tuesday.
In an equally contested match, Aliston Lobo scored an early goal for Arpora Sporting in the 4th minute. Stung by the reverse, Milagres tried to bounce back into the game but were undone by another goal in the 15th minute by German Fernandes off Pramod Mardolkar to give Arpora a 2-0 lead.
Milagres mounted pressure on Arpora defense and succeeded in reducing the margin in the 18th minute to make it 1-2.
Changing over, Milagres kept mounting pressure on Arpora defense in search of the equaliser but were unable to find the net. Arpora on the other hand failed to add another to the score.
