PONDA: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that in the next 10 years, the government will see that the ST community is developed on par with other communities in all sectors of industry, besides in the field of education.
Parrikar was speaking at Bethora-Ponda on the occasion of ‘Sankalp Din’ organised by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare, in remembrance of Manguesh Ganokar and Dilip Velip, who died during the agitation at Balli a couple of years ago. Industries Minister Mahadev Naik, Minister for Tribal Welfare Ramesh Tawadkar, MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar and others were present on the occasion.
While criticising the Congress party, Parrikar said: “Congress leaders did play communal card while campaigning for Lok Sabha elections, but they didn’t succeed in their destructive efforts.”
South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar said he will work for the betterment of the society and only unity can take the nation to greater heights.
Industries Minister Naik appealed to the ST community to increase the literacy percentage in their community, while Tawadkar informed the people about the importance of Sankalp Din. On the occasion, folk artiste Kanta Gavde, educationist Tereza Andrade, engineer Yogesh Kuncolkar were felicitated.
