NEW DELHI: Goa has lost out in securing Central aid for laying the underground electric cables as the State government did not apply to avail the financial assistance under the integrated power development scheme or restructured accelerated power development and reforms programme.
Power Minister Piyush Goyal disclosed this in reply to a question by Shantaram Naik. He said the question of financial assistance to Goa for laying the underground cables does not arise without any proposal from the state.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 20,000 cr. It is learnt that laying of underground cabling has been completed in Panjim, parts of Margao and Loutolim while it is in progress in Mormugao and Vasco.
