Agnelo still waiting for I-League call up

The 25-year old forward was one of the highest goal scorers in this editions Goa Professional League and has been a regular member of the Goa Santosh Trophy squad since 2011.
It’s surprising that the Navelim-based striker has never featured in the country’s top flight although having donned the colors of all elite Goan clubs except Salgaocar Football Club.
The SAI Hostel product started his professional career with Raia Sporting and then went on to play for clubs like Vasco Sports Club and Sporting Club de Goa.
Currently, with 12 goals in the Pro-League, Agnel is enjoying his term at Tuff Laxmi Prasad, a club where its patron Franky Viegas closely monitors the coaching and treats the players and staff with respect. “I am very happy with the management of Tuff Laxmi. Only a call from any I-League team will see me leave this club,” he revealed.
Agnel who has struggled hard till date, rarely found himself in the limelight. However, this season was outstanding. Not just because he was the highest goal scorer but because of three fabulously crafted goals by the young man against big teams like Dempo SC, Sporting Clube de Goa and Vasco SC. Fans will surely remember those marvels for a long time.
Looking back at how the season transcribed for Tuff Laxmi, Angel believes the club could have had better results. “It’s hard to see the team squander away the lead they gain in initial stages. Lack of focus in the latter stages of the matches have cost us big time,” he opines.
Tuff Laxmi’s coach Valentine seems to be extremely satisfied with Agnel’s performance so far. Valentine and Agnel worked together, years back at Vasco SC and the player’s hard work and dedication prompted Valentine to include him in his plans. “I have mostly used Agnel from the bench, yet he has a good record of having scored in almost all matches, from which three were simply outstanding,” reveals Valentine.
Agnel’s rise in form is a hint towards a peak in his career.
