Parrikar was one of the first voters seen standing in a queue at a booth near Rural Health Center in Panjim. After voting, Parrikar walked to a nearby restaurant to have a cup of tea even as the plain cloth security remained clueless about his move. The crowd inside the restaurant was astonished to see the defence minister walking without any security in the restaurant which is a common place for the Panmites to have their breakfast.
Earlier, speaking to the reporters outside the booth, Parrikar said BJP led panel will win the polls as “people are smart enough to know what is good for them.”
He has also said that to get smart city project one need smart council which BJO can only give.
“For a smart city you need smart council and BJP will give it to the people,” Parrikar said while speaking to reporters.
The Defence Minister who had represented Panjim constituency said he has been canvassing for the polls using his personal connections. BJP has fielded its candidates in all the 30 wards while they are having stern opposition from the panel of expelled Congress legislator Atanasio Monserratte. Congress too has its candidates contesting the poll.
