MAYEM: Access to water supply is considered a basic need and yet, four families from Shirodwadi in Mulgao had to struggle for seven years before they were finally given a water connection.
Four families of the Kaunthankar clan were confronted with several bureaucratic hurdles in their bid for a water connection they had applied seven years ago. Madhukar and Mukund Kauthankar were also compelled to fight a legal battle to seek the water connection.
Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal then intervened in the matter and he convened a meeting with PWD and Bicholim PHC officials. Former PHC health officer Dr Shashi Parkar was also instrumental in getting the issue resolved.
“As per the Health Act, the families should get the water connection at any cost,” said Dr Parkar. The water connection was finally provided in presence of Sawal and local panch Prakash Arondekar.
