PONDA: Hosts Ponda Footballers entered the semi-finals of the 32nd All Goa St Anne’s festival inter-village soccer tournament after defeating Goa Velha FC 4-2, at Animal Husbbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, on Saturday.
In the six minute, Goa Velha scored the first goal when Chandan received a loose ball inside the box and he placed the ball to the right side of the keeper. At stroke of half-time, Ponda equalized when Puskar released a through ball to Deepak whose shot entered the net.

In the second half, Ponda took the lead when Niket beat the diving keeper in the 60 minute. Ponda increased the lead further in the 62nd minute when Deepak received the ball inside the box and took a first attempt shot to make it 3-1. Goa Velha reduced the score in the 64th minute as Franky’s shot deflected off a defender and entered the net to make it 3-2. In the 70th minute, Ponda scored another goal after Manthan Naik dribbled past the defenders and beat the keeper.
Ponda Footballers will now meet Sinquerim SC in the semi-finals on July 20.
