The situation also led to traffic congestion since the women had blocked the main road entering the Mapusa town from Panjim and Calangute directions.

Later, a team of Mapusa Police rushed to the spot and managed to clear the road. During the protest, the residents of Sonarkhed informed that for the last two years they have been writing to the PWD highlighting the irregular water supply problem but till date nothing has been done.

The residents claimed that due to the irregular water supply, they are forced to spend sleepless nights and people, who are working, have to skip their work, waiting to fill the water.

They also alleged that Assistant Engineer should take action on the valve operators, who manipulate the release of water, due to which few houses receives the water while few do not.
