Addressing a press conference here, earlier, the six SMC councillors including chairperson Dharmesh Saglani accused the MLA of non-cooperation for development of the town. “There are several problems faced by the SMC and many files are pending as there are no full time officers in the municipality. SMC has had nine chief officers over the last two years and has no engineer which has led to delay in developmental projects,” Saglani said.
Holding a parallel press conference, three opposition councillors Upendra Karpe, Dishita Naik and Dayanand Boryekar, supported by the local MLA refuted the charges. Councillor Upendra Karpe accused SMC chairperson Saglani
of not being present in the office for most of the week.
“A Chief Officer cannot take decisions without the support of a chairperson. If the MLA is not providing support to the chairman it is because the things are not legal,” Karpe told the press. Another councillor, Dishita Naik accused the ruling councillors of not taking the MLA into confidence.
