PANJIM: As the sudden downpour took Goans by surprise on Sunday, the Goa Meteorological Centre has predicted light rainfall or thunderstorm for the next 48 hours.
The unexpected rain that began as early as 3am on Sunday and continued throughout the day with intervals infact marginally brought down the temperatures. While winds added to the chill at night.
With rainfall to continue till Tuesday, the entire week may witness cloudy sky wherein maximum temperature will be recorded at 30-32 degree Celsius and minimum temperature at 21 degree Celsius.
The rainfall is due to the sudden change caused by the upper air cyclonic circulation over Kutch in Gujarat.
The met department has stated the rainfall has covered the western coastal region as the sudden change in climate is due to the upper air cyclonic circulation over Kutch in Gujarat. “Due to drift in the atmosphere, there is a lot of moisture incursion resulting into light rainfall and windy condition,” a met official said.
Meanwhile, even as citizens had a pleasant day, the rainfall however poses threat to crops and possible spread of airborne diseases due to change in climate.
