PONDA: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) President Deepak Dhavalikar at a meeting held on Monday at Pilem, Dharbandora formally declared former Sarpanch of Darbandora Village Panchayat and sitting panch member Vinayak Balaji Gauns as party candidate for the forthcoming Assembly elections from Sanvordem constituency.
It may be recalled that during the 2017 election MGP MLA Deepak Pauskar had won the Sanvordem Assembly seat, however later he joined BJP and is currently the PWD Minister in the BJP government.
The MGP president after officially admitting Gawas into the party fold said, “Sanvordem constituency is the bastion of MGP with around 10,000 voters. We just need an additional 3000 votes to win the seat. We still have a hold on the constituency and our voters will teach a lesson to the MLA who betrayed us,” he said.
Dhavalikar also said, as for MGP, the party has continued with its traditional legacy and Goans have continued to support the party since the time of Bahusaheb Bandodkar.
He asked MGP workers to start campaigning to win back the seat.
He criticised the BJP government for failing to provide Internet connectivity to students for online education and also its failure to restart mining for the past 10 years.
Dhavalikar also criticised Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for giving false assurances to people during his visits to various constituencies. Dhavalikar urged the people not to trust Sawant, and his promises and assurances are nothing but election gimmicks.
Speaking on occasion Gawas urged the people from Sanvordem to support his candidature in the coming elections. Balaji assured to work for all round development of Sanvordem.
