PANJIM: After chaos and confusion in January over the walk-in-interview at North Goa Collectorate for 64 posts of lower division clerks and data entry operators, Revenue Department has proposed scrapping contractual posts. The department intends to advertise the posts afresh – on regular basis – after an approval. The number could rise owing to promotions of some existing employees and retirement of a few others.
“We have sought for the cancellation of the walk-in-interviews held for 40 LDCs and 24 DEOs. The contract was for a period of 10 months and by the time we recruit the candidates they will be in service for around four months as the tenure formally ends on October 31, 2018. We want to proceed in a transparent way and as such, proposed to scrap the process,” Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte said on Tuesday.
He assured that henceforth posts created in the department will be on regular basis. “Once the Personnel Department clears the file, we should start with a fresh recruitment process from July. All fresh recruitments would be on regular basis. There are various positions coming in because of promotions and retirements,” he added.
To handle the current staff shortage, Khaunte has decided to rope in the services of contractual staff from empanelled agencies like IT, ITG and Goa Electronics Limited.
