PANJIM: Tourism Department raided eight beach shacks for illegally operating on Calangute beach. The raid on Monday confiscated tents, beach umbrellas, tables, chairs and other items belonging to the unauthorised shack operators.
The drive was carried out following complaints of unauthorised shack operations during the monsoon, even after the tourism season concluded in May and instructions were issued by the department to discontinue the operations till the new tourist season.
A statement issued by the department states that it will continue the raids for the next couple of days on beach stretches to curb such illegal activities.
