Man crushed under train wheels at Vasco

Barely 15 days after a 40-year-old woman died after a local passenger train hit her near Airport Railway Bridge at Chicalim, one more person died on Tuesday when he was hit by a goods train, barely 100 mtrs from the earlier site.
The unknown man in his thirties was killed, after a speeding goods train knocked him down. His one hand was smashed in the accident, while his body was lying alongside the railway track.
According to eye witness, the incident occurred at about 12 pm, while sources in railways informed that the deceased was hit by a goods train, as there was no movement of passenger train at the time of the incident.
Surprisingly, police failed to lift the body lying alongside the train for over two hours.
Sources at the Vasco Police informed that they did not have vehicle as such it got delayed in lifting the body, while a donated hearse van which is shared by Vasco Police and Railway Police is also in broken condition.
Interestingly, Vasco Railway Police that attends to emergency cases along the 82-km odd railway track of South Western Railway track from Vasco to Dudhsagar has been managing with private vehicles if any accident occurs or any emergency situation arises.
Vasco Railway Police has registered a case of unnatural death and has preserved the body at Hospicio in Margao.
It may be recalled that on August 31, a 40-year-old widow from Karnataka, but residing at Asoidongri-Chicalim died, after a speeding local passenger train hit her while crossing the railway track near the airport railway bridge at Chicalim.
