Govt dupes Communidade employees on salaries

When the government issued instructions last month to withdraw their pen-down strike, promising to resolve all their pending grievances, the employees of the South Goa Administrator of Communidades were prompt in obeying the directions by immediately calling off their stir.
Believe it or not, leave alone taking a decision on their demand for absorption in government services, the employees were not paid their monthly salary for the last five months and had to go without salaries during Ganesh festival.
The employees pointed out that they were eagerly waiting for the government to pay their salaries pending since April last, but in vain. “We were hoping that the government would clear our salaries of the last five months in view of the Ganesh festival. But, we were left high and dry by the government,” the employees told newsmen.
Incidentally, the employees recalled that though the government played truant in the payment of salaries over the last couple of years, they had made arrangements in the past to pay their salaries during festive seasons.
When the employees called on the South Goa Administrator of Communidades with their grievances, he point blank told them that he has not received any funds from the government to clear their salary dues.
The employees have now called for a meeting to chalk out a future course of action with their salaries not forthcoming from the government till date.
These Communidade employees have been demanding that they be absorbed in government service as they have put in years of work in the Communidade office.
It is learnt that the government has constituted a committee comprising of the Finance secretary and the Revenue secretary to study the demands of the employees and recommend suitable action.
