PONDA: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik on Wednesday called upon the government to make COVID negative certificate mandatory for people from the neighbouring States of Maharashtra and Karnataka visiting Goa to contain the infection.
Addressing to media persons, he said, “There is no need for a lockdown in Goa if Goans strictly follow COVID guidelines such as social distancing, wear masks and avoid crowded places.”

He said, “Government cannot personally take care of people and so public should voluntarily follow COVID guidelines and get themselves vaccinated to contain the pandemic.”
He said, “The neighbouring States have made COVID negative certificate mandatory. Similarly, Goa should follow this rule to prevent spread of COVID cases and check the people entering the State for COVID.”
He said, “Goa Government should set up cell to provide COVID negative certificate to Goans willing to travel to other States.”
He said “The Goans above 45 years should get themselves vaccinated as the government vaccination drive is currently underway across Goa including Ponda Sub District Hospital, Rajiv Kala Mandir and at panchayat level.”
