MANORA: Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda beat Snows Football Academy, Raia by a 1-0 deficit in the final of the all-Goa Manora Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Youth Club of Manora, at Raia Panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Just in the second minute itself, U-21 striker of Don Bosco Oratory’s Necil Pinto tried a long range shot from the centre which should have given his side the lead but his curler effort was denied by Snows crossbar.
Snows through Oilex Oliveira’s power-drive shot hit the rival post and went out of play in the 6th minute.
Minutes later, Don Bosco Oratory’s Cliff Baretto failed to find the Snows net with left footer.
Snows striker Oilex Oliveira missed the open net in the 18th minute.
In the second half, Don Bosco coach Fr. Marvin Vaz brought on Francis Andrade and Velito Miranda in the frontline and defence respectively.
As the match progressed, Francis’ header from close range missed the target by whiskers in the 36th minute.
It was substitute Samson Miranda who netted the match winner with a header off Francis’ cross in the 56th minute.
Just two minutes left for the final whistle, Oilex Oliverira missed the target of Don Bosco by whiskers.
The winners were awarded Rs. 30,000 while the runners-up received Rs. 25,000 plus trophies.
Individual prizes awarded are as follows: best striker of the final: Oilex Oliveira of Snows football Academy,Raia; best goalkeeper of the final: Agnelo Noronha.
Alex Reginaldo Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners up in the presence of Prof Irfan Mirza, Director V.M.Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education, Manora, Raia, Dionizio Sardinha, promoter of sports and social worker of Curtorim, Welwyn Menezes, General Secretary of GFA, Anthony Pango promoter of sports in Raia, Arnald Costa GFA Executive member and other dignitaries and club officials.
