PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (GPYCC) has charged that the government has remained a mute spectator to the assault on football fan Lester D’Souza at Nehru Stadium two weeks ago.
“The government has not reacted to the incident till date. They are not bothered that policemen assaulted the Anjuna boy and his parents on the playground,” GPYCC president Varad Mardolkar said on Wednesday.
The Congress youth wing had raised the matter with Director General of Police Muktesh Chander demanding action or inquiry against the guilty policemen. The DGP had then ordered for an inquiry and disciplinary action against PSIs Raunak Kadam and Dattaprasad Toraskar.
As per GPYCC, the DGP has assured them to drop charges under Section 353 (to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code against the youth.
