Development and bad roads

Everyone is complaining but no one is listening. When asked, those in authority don’t answer, if they at all, it’s a one line answer: I don’t know. Then what manner of development is this? The done up roads are undone again, trenches are dug and covered with loose mud causing inconvenience. Most roads are in very bad, unsafe condition. Is it hot mixing or loose mixing, asked an irate villager over the road recently done but washed away in the last monsoon?
BSLN landline has become a joke only for the monthly bill to be paid with no services rendered. No amount of complaining can solve our problem and the officials reply to our queries at the Porvorim Exchange is phenomenal if not ridiculous.
The worst comes with irresponsible, ill mannered youth using high powered two wheelers with the deafening sound which gives them the pleasure to ride but inconveniences the elders. The police take no notice of this mischief by the youth, particularly, and inspect the motorcycles for its modification done on original models to create the exploding sound. These modified 2-wheelers not in cognizance with the motor vehicles act must be impounded on the spot.
Traffic indiscipline on bad roads due to traffic jam is the cause of many accidents and loss of precious lives or serious injuries caused making life a burden to live thereafter. The public lacks politeness, patience and understanding as everyone is in a hurry to reach somewhere and the easy flow of traffic when hampered due to road blocks becomes an irritant for those in hurry.
Development is the catch word attracting attention of one and sundry. How it should be done is not the concept. Fame, honour, cheap publicity overrides systematic planning principles. With the authorities in power being the supreme rulers today, the common man’s language has become: In silence we will bear our burden and pain.
