CALANGUTE: Unbearable stench at Saunta Vaddo in Baga-Calangute led health officials to unearth 10 bags of rotten fish from the property of a hotel.
Health officials attached to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Candolim recovered the 10 buried bags of rotten fish, following a complaint by Sylvester D’Souza.
D’Souza, who is also an hotelier, had complained of foul odor emanating in the vicinity, thereby causing nuisance to him, his family and guests.
According to the inspection report of PHC Candolim, a site inspection was carried out by the health officials in the presence of Calangute Police and 10 plastic bags containing rotten fish were found buried in the compound of the neighbouring hotel.
A foul odor was generating from the rotten fish and the erring hotelier was asked to get rid of it immediately.
Speaking to Herald, Sylvester D’Souza said, “We should do business in a genuine way and not with ulterior motives. By burying rotten fish, we are inviting trouble for ourselves and livelihood of the residents. I was disturbed with the very bad smell and asked PHC authorities to look into the matter.”
