MARGAO, JUNE 23
Transfer of three municipal workers from the Markets to the sanitary section by the Chief Officer has kicked up a row of sorts in the corridors of the civic body.
While the Chief Officer Y B Tawde transferred the three workers from the markets on a note put up by a Market inspector, the Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho has now questioned the logic behind transferring the three employees from the markets to the sanitary section.
Coutinho, who arrived from Delhi a day ago, was informed by the sanitary Inspector Viraj Arabekar that three of his workers deployed for garbage collection work have been transferred to the market.
An agitated Chairperson has questioned the move by the Chief Officer without consulting him and has charged Tawde, who has since proceeded on a week-long leave, for bowing to the wishes of certain civic employees without taking the Council into confidence.
Coutinho told Herald that he will ask the incumbent Chief Officer Prasanna Acharya to revert back the three employees.
The Chairperson has suggested that workers at the disposal of the market inspectors be rotated in the markets instead of transferring employees from other sections.
