PANJIM: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Delhi has recorded statements of all 12 Block Development Officers (BDOs) regarding expenditure beyond permissible limits by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during Goa Assembly elections held in February this year.

The CBI is conducting investigations into a complaint filed by a person from Delhi seeking inquiry into the huge expenditure incurred by the AAP during Assembly elections it contested in Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand in February this year.
The CBI team visited Goa and recorded statements of all 12 BDOs as it was difficult for the team to visit all 191 village panchayats across the State for probe. The CBI is investigating into the total expenditure made by AAP and permissions sought from village panchayats to put up hoardings and also details of advertising agency hired by the party during Assembly polls.
The BDOs collected the records from village panchayats from their respective taluka and submitted it to the CBI team, who later also recorded their statements.
When contacted, Director of Panchayats Siddhi Halarnakar said that the CBI team from Delhi visited the office for inquiry into the expenses made beyond ‘permissible limits’ by the Aam Aadmi Party during Assembly elections.
When asked whether the CBI also inquired about the expenses incurred by other political parties which contested Assembly elections, Halarnakar said that the complaint is against AAP and the CBI is investigating in all the States where AAP contested.
The AAP had fielded 39 candidates for Goa Assembly elections and won two seats.
