A deep pit that has been dug on the road along the Swatantra path poses danger to pedestrians who walk on the pavement and also those who cross the road. The pit has an unconnected pipeline jutting up above ground level. It is understood that a couple of pedestrians have in fact fallen into the pit, which for some unknown reason, has been left open. The pit is located very close to the ATM of the Andhra Bank, Vasco branch. It is a busy area, with several shops in the vicinity. According to a shop owner, the pit was dug up more than 15 days ago. Besides the open pit posing a threat to people, pedestrians can also trip on the pipe that is jutting out. There is no signboard or barriers to warn people about the same. The authorities should have immediately covered the pit. This has not been done till Thursday. What also needs to be done is that the pipeline should be placed below the level of the road. Otherwise children or senior citizens could get seriously hurt after falling into the pit or tripping on the pipeline, especially
at night.
