As a part of this initiative, empanelment of Certified Bird Guides & Naturalists Programme is being established for the tourist season 2016-17 in association with Bird Institute of Goa.
“This is a preparation and facilitation program for young nature enthusiasts to embark on a career of self employment or even to take a part time job,” a statement from the department states.
The course fee will be Rs 10,000 and the program will be of two weeks duration at the end of which successful candidates will be certified for three years.
“Once candidates are successful, they would be listed on the GTDC Avi Tourism portal for engagement of prospective tourists. The charges would be self-determined by the candidates through combination of their ratings on eBird, past reviews and guide experience. The charges will range from Rs 1000 to 6000 per trip per tourist where Rs 6000 or USD 100 are the international norms of guide engagement rates. Interested candidates should apply for the course by August 19.
