ASSOLNA: Marc Caterers Veterans got the better of Vasco Veterans 1-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Assolna Veterans football tournament held, at SAG ground Assolna, on Wednesday.
Mark Caterers went all out attack from the word go as Valantinho Dias connected a well measured ball to Marcus Carvalho but the latter’s move was thwarted by Vasco’s Martin Pereira in the 4th minute.
On the other hand, Vasco’s John Fernandes should have found the ball at the back of the Marc net, but Tony Crasto put in a timely tackle.
In the 12th minute, a power-drive shot from Marc’s Charles D’Silva should have landed into the Vasco net but it was blocked by Jack Colaco of Vasco from the goaline.
As the match progressed in the 22nd minute, Robert Fernandes shot a long ball to Marcus Carvalho who rose high from the box and with a glancing header netted the match winner for Marc.
