PONDA: Accusing PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar of playing politics on the Dhavalim flyover issue, Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Monday questioned the minister why the flyover was closed for traffic when the same is almost complete.
Dhavalikar’s remarks came after the PWD Minister and NH Engineers inspected the flyover and shut it for traffic stating that the work was incomplete.
“Politics is being played by PWD Minister on the flyover opening. Traffic is allowed on so many incomplete roads then why the Dhavalim flyover, which is almost ready for traffic, shut,” Dhavlikar asked.
He said Pauskar should stop playing politics and added that the Dhavalim flyover is much safer than the other incomplete roads in the State.
The MLA said he had opened the flyover for traffic as the locals are facing hardship.
Kavlem sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar justified the opening of flyover by the MLA as there was demand from public that despite the flyover was ready it was closed for traffic.
Dhavlikar questioned the PWD Minister, NH Officials if Dhavalim road is incomplete then how the traffic on incomplete Patradevi to Mapusa Porvorim Highway is allowed as there are no streetlights installed.
He also questioned how traffic is allowed on the Mandovi Bridge which is full of potholes.
He said the Bambolim-Agassaim road is incomplete then how is government allowing traffic movement along the route. Similar is case of the Verna road.
He said many highways have no streetlights and several are not functioning which is dangerous for motorists.
He threatened to move the court against the officials and police for allowing traffic on other incomplete highways in Goa.
