VASCO: Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday assured to resolve both the issues of airport taxi Union on priority.
Speaking to reporters after hearing the grievances of taxi operators, Godinho said, “I came here to hear the grievances of the taxi operators at the Dabolim airport. I believe that these taxi operators are very important ambassadors for the sake of growth of tourism in Goa. Sometimes, there are attempts to keep them apart and take decisions which I will never allow as they are very important stakeholders and they know that the government respects their opinion.”
According to Mauvin the taxi operators face only two problems: lack of a counter at the airport in their name, or an independent counter and the newly opened car rental counter.
On the first issue, he said that he would arrange a meeting of the chief minister and the airport director to solve this issue once for all. As for the second issue, he said, “I have pointed out to airport director several times that this is not allowed and this is illegal. I had also prevailed upon the transport department not to issue any licence, and to see that such counter is not operational.”
“Since both these issues require the intervention of the chief minister, I will take appointment with him very shortly and get this issue also resolved,” he added.
