Train movement will be under strict restrictions: CM

Though regular trains will start to Goa from May 15, it will be under strict monitoring and the regulations for that will be finalised soon, Chief Minster Dr Pramod Sawant has said.

On apprehensions raised about train service resumption, Sawant said there was no need to worry as the State will make a foolproof plan. “Even though the train services resume, it will be with strict restrictions,” he said. Speaking to the media after the video conference meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said there was lot of speculation regarding the economic revival. “Lockdown phase 4 will start from May 18 and some powers will be with the State on what to start and what to shut. We have told him that we need to restrict train and flight services,” Sawant said.The Chief Minister said he had suggested restricting inter-State public transport.  “Also put forth Goa’s perspective on revival of State’s economy, including resumption of mining and tourism,” he said.

Speaking on demands to scrap board exams, he said that exams will be held as per schedule. “Please do not to politicise exam issue. Exams will be held as per schedule but we will take all precautions. Some time ago parents were after us to finish exams,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that guidelines for the next lockdown details will be finalised on May 17.
