PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made interesting charges against the Congress stating it has auctioned the top party posts as the latter chose new faces to lead its party in the State and the Legislative Assembly.
Addressing the party karyakartas, BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade hit out at its former minister and current Congress MLA Michael Lobo, who switched his loyalty to the other side days before the 2022 Assembly Polls.

Tanavade said, “Michael Lobo who quit this party, made money while he was a minister in the then BJP government has shown his capacity to spend money and that is why he has been made leader of the opposition.”
Reacting to this, Lobo said, “It is completely unbecoming of a BJP State president to speak in this manner about a former party colleague and minister who he worked with for such a long time. His remark alluding that money was paid by me to become a CLP leader is cheap and childish. His party should decide the effect of these kinds of remarks on the party itself. The people of Goa are watching.”
Tanavade, however, had gone on to say that, “On one side we see that Congress president Girish Chodankar has given his resignation and other hand, the dire state of the Congress. The person who joined Congress just 15 days before the elections is made the CLP leader,” Tanavade said taking a dig at Congress for “auctioning the post”.
He further ridiculed the selection of Congress President stating the opposition party’s karyakartas from North to South will not know or recognise him. Congress chose Amit Patkar as their new president following Chodankar’s resignation.
“I am the BJP president and BJP karyakartas across 40 constituencies know me. This is because BJP doesn’t auction the post like the Congress,” he added.
