PONDA: Stating that the government would give a new lease of life to Sanjivani sugar factory, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday called upon the farmers to shoulder some responsibility and cooperate in the development of factory instead of agitating.

He requested them not to fall prey to some persons who are instigating the farmers for vested interest.
He said the factory owns around 15 lakh sq mts land and government would not tolerate any illegal activity like laterite stone extraction by some persons.
He said Sanjivani land would be utilised for sugar cane production and some of it would be used for new activities which would enhance the factory’s income.
Sawant planted sugarcane seeds on the sugar factory land at Dharbandora.
Around three varieties of sugarcane seedlings would be cultivated in five hectares.
Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Sugarcane Facilitation Committee President Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Sugarcane Farmers’ Association President Rajendra Desai, panchas, sarpanch and ZP members were present.
Pauskar said, “89 employees will be given service extension for the next six months.”
Kavlekar said, “A provision of Rs 10 crore has been made by government to boost sugarcane production. Of the total 35 hectares around 12.5 hectares will be used for sugarcane cultivation.”
