RTO urged to crack whip against overloaded trucks
MARGAO, FEB 24 (HR)– The Jai Damodar Association has urged the RTO to crack a whip against all overloaded trucks and not only target ore carrying vehicles. Saying that an “offence is an offence”, Association President Mahesh Nayak said the RTO should also target overloaded vehicles carrying cement, sand, stones, bricks, cooking gas etc. He said that driving licences have no offices and are operating on footpaths, adding that licences are issued by violating Rule 24 of the MV Act, 1989.
Demanding punishment for officials registering vehicles on fake residential proofs, Nayak said that the pending road tax running into crores of rupees should be collected on a priority basis.
He also called for verification of relevant certificates of the officers submitted at the time of joining the service.
