PANJIM: BJP Ministers,
including Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, and party president Vinay
Tendulkar will be in Kozhikode in Kerala for the party’s two-day national council
meeting from September 24.
Disclosing this, BJP MP
Narendra Sawaikar said the meeting will see the participation of political
heavyweights from the Centre and State, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi
who along with Amit Shah will address two public meetings there.
“From Goa, all party ministers,
President, and other top leaders will attend the council meeting,” Sawaikar
said.
Sawaikar said the BJP brass
has decided to hold the national council meeting in Kozhikode to commemorate
the 50th anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya’s election as president
of the Jan Sangh, the precursor of the BJP, in the city known as Calicut in
those days.
The centenary celebration
will be inaugurated on September 25 and a schedule to hold a year-long
programme will be announced.
In Goa, the government has
launched the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a health insurance scheme
that covers the entire State population, making it a first of its kind in the
country. “Under the scheme, we have so far received 1.68 lakh applications and
over one lakh cards have been printed,” Sawaikar said. Since its launch on
September 1 till date, 24 people have benefited in seven hospitals.
