Senior journalist from Ponda no more

PONDA: Vasu Krishna Naik, a senior journalist working for the vernacular press, passed away on Saturday.

PONDA:  Vasu Krishna Naik, a senior journalist working for the vernacular press, passed away on Saturday.
Naik had undergone a surgery after a massive heart attack nine days ago and was under observation in ICU at Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim.
His funeral was held at the local crematorium at Varkhandem which was attended by hundreds of people, including politicians and member of the journalist fraternity.
Naik began his career as journalist as reporter from Gomantak in 1991 and later joined Gomantak Times. In 1993, he joined the evening daily Vartamaan, later worked for Tarun Bharat for more than fifteen years. Thereafter, he joined Lokmath where he worked till his death.
Naik’s funeral was attended by Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Shiroda MLA Subash Shirodakr, South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar, Ponda councillors, sarpanchas and panch of various panchayats, Editor of Lokmath Raju Nayak, Goa 365 Editor Sandesh Prabudesai, Dainik Herald Editor Rajendra Desai, and senior reporters from Panjim.
Meanwhile, Ponda locals have arranged a condolence meeting at Ponda Hanuman Mandir Hall, Varkhandem on Sunday, at 10 am.
