PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has asked the Education Department to suspend the school teacher being investigated by Sanguem police for molestation.
The teacher, whose identity has been kept under wraps, is facing serious charges under the Goa Children’s Act and POCSO.
Sources said that the chief minister has instructed the officials concerned to deal with the case strictly.
The alleged accused, brother of a police inspector, is expected to appear before officials of the Education Department on Thursday. The department had served a notice on him seeking an explanation in person as to why he should not be suspended for the offence.
As per the case details, the teacher allegedly molested an underage student during a picnic earlier this month. The victim had confided in her parents soon after the incident, who thereafter complained to the school authorities and later the Education Department.
