MARGAO: The shortage of fish faced by Margao and South Goa people will end from tomorrow (Saturday) as the wholesale fish traders and vendors have agreed to start using the wholesale fish market following resolution of their differences with the “sopo” collector Milagres Fernandes.
South Goa Planning and Development Authority Chairman Wilfred alias Babashan D’Sa called for a special meeting between the “sopo” collector and the wholesale fish traders and vendors association where the differences between the two groups were resolved.

While asserting that he never overcharged the traders and vendors, Milagres said he had asked to immediately call the police if anybody demands extra money or even fish from them.
Maulana Ibrahim, president of Wholesale Fish Traders and Vendors Association said they will start using the market from tomorrow (Saturday) but asserted that any bullying or harassment will not be tolerated and demanded that the market be cleaned properly.
“We shall pay the fees (sopo) prescribed as we have filed a case asking for reduction of the rate but till that is decided we shall pay the fees, that is not a problem,” he said while demanding that the retail sale of fish in the wholesale market has to be stopped totally.
