MARGAO: As a part of the preparation for the upcoming monsoon, the Margao Municipal officials conducted a surprise visit to the basement of Guru Ashish building near Railway flyover in Margao.
The municipal team comprised of Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik, Municipal Engineer Manoj Arsekar, Sanitary Inspector Sanjay Sangelkar and others.
During the inspection, the officials found clogging of sewerage water from the building with choked septic tanks. “This poses a major health hazard,” an official said.
The chief officer immediately directed the technical section to press into service night soil tankers to suck out the accumulated water and filth and issue notice to the occupants of the building to take sewerage connection from the line existing in its vicinity.
Last year, the basement of the building was totally submerged during the very first monsoon showers.
