PANJIM: While there is much hesitation from Parents Teachers Associations in implementing the midday meal scheme, the Directorate of Education has not received requests for discontinuation of the scheme but for changing the menu with processed food or fruits.
According to the recent survey conducted by the Education Department, several PTAs in Goa are not in favour of the present food items which are offered to students and have strongly asked for a change if the scheme is to be persisted with.
The Education Department which is still receiving data from its ADEIs on this issue, claims that so far no schools have rejected the scheme even though PTAs have expressed total resentment in the implementation of the scheme.
“We are working towards revamping the menu and will come out with a new menu shortly,” Anil Powar, Director of Education confirmed.
