PANJIM: Congress party alleged on Thursday that coastal constituencies represented by BJP MLAs have seen a spurt in drug and flesh trade and hence these legislators should be investigated for their links with the narcotics trade.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Durgadas Kamat demanded that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who represents coastal Mandrem, and others who represent coastal areas such as Calangute MLA Michael Lobo and Art and Culture Minister and Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar should make their stand clear on the issue of drug and flesh trade in their respective constituencies.
“These MLAs, being in the ruling party, should declare a war against such anti-social activities,” Kamat said, castigating them, saying the silence of these ministers and MLAs raises serious questions whether they are beneficiaries of the profit which arises out of these illegal and immoral activities. Kamat said that there has been constant growth of drug and flesh trades in areas represented by BJP MLAs and these constituencies have become the hot bed for these activities.
