‘Portugez Passport’ wins KA Tiatr ‘B’ Group competition

‘Devachi Adnya’, ‘Amche-i Aikat’ bag second and third prizes respectively

 PANJIM: ‘Portugez Passport’, the tiatr presented by Taleigao Dramatic Troupe won the first prize of Rs 50,000, besides a rolling trophy at the 2nd Tiatr ‘B’ Group competition organized by Kala Academy.
‘Devachi Adnya’, a tiatr by the Dramatic Troupe of Ribandar bagged the second prize of Rs 40,000 while ‘Amche-i Aikat’, a tiatr by Britona Dramatic Academy claimed the third prize of Rs 30,000. The consolation prize of Rs 20,000 was awarded to tiatr ‘Ek Aslo Ghorabo’ presented by Vandana Productions, Borim.
Kala Academy had organized the 2nd Tiatr Competition with the participation of 16 tiatr groups from January 20 to February 25. Rosarinho Fernandes, Antonio Velho and Joy Fernandes were judges to evaluate the tiatrs, while Pio Esteves evaluated the scripts.
Nilkant P Singnapurker, member secretary of Kala Academy was the chief guest for the function, while Jose Alexander Rodrigues, member secretary of Tiatr Academy, Goa and Ashok Parab, Deputy Director of Art and Culture and K R Shrinivas, resident editor of The Times of India were the guests of honour.
The other results are as follows: Best Direction: Wilson Mazarello (first prize), Diogo Fernandes (second prize) and Tushar Manjrekar (third prize); Best actor (Male): Edel Rebello (first prize) and Joaquim Almeida (second prize); Best actor (Female): Princilla Lobo (first prize) and Saivina Fernandes (second prize); Best comedian (Male): Gopal Bhangui; Best comedian (Female): Princia D’Souza; Best child artiste (Male): Osler Dias; Best child artiste (Female): Myfa Fernandes; Best stage setting: Austin Rodrigues; Best light effects: Keshav Kerkar; Best music: Selvyn Braganza; Best make-up: Sheetal Rodrigues; Best costumes: Sandra de Souza; Best background music: Domnic D’Souza; Best Singer (Male): Juze Fernandes (first prize) and Fr Savio D’Costa (second prize); Best Singer (Female): Jeynna Fernandes (first prize) and Betty D’Cunha (second prize); Best child singer (Male); Cameron Fernandes; Best child singer (Female): Shenaya Pereira; Best choral singing: Alicia, Twiny, Melinda and Giselle; Best duet: Johnson Jacques/Valanka Rodrigues; Best duo: Albino Pires and Custodio Cabral; Best trio: Mitisha Tavares, Johann Rebello and Guillehmine Vas; Best quartet: Frazel, Princia, Myron and Ivan; Best lyrics: Peter Vaz; Best script: Diogo Fernandes (first prize), Menino Mario Araujo (second prize) and Peter Vaz (consolation prize). On this occasion, a musical show ‘Goechi Girestkai’ was coordinated by singer and tiatr artiste, Socorro de Santa Cruz and his troupe. This year, the competition was held with the support of The Times of India Publications and Tiatr Academy Goa.
