Now another reason to save the tiger

Earlier in the week, a 22-year-old man was killed by a white tiger at a zoo in Delhi after he entered into the animal’s enclosure. In the aftermath of the horrific incident, there have been varied opinions on the resolution of the incident, with several people going as far as to hold the animal responsible for its actions.

Social media has been abuzz with people on both sides of the
issue and some people claiming that the tiger should be euthanised.

Roy Savio Athayde: Calls to put the tiger down are akin to
someone standing on the railway track and seeing a train in the distance. Once
the train runs over the man, then you want to shoot the driver

Joleine Vas:  So now
they expect the Tiger to know right from wrong? And what about the youth? I
fail to understand who the animal is here! The one who could read the warning
signs at each point when he was ‘trespassing’ into the tiger’s domain or the
one who was following its instincts. And they want to put the tiger down?
Maybe, they should first start with rapists, paedophiles and murderers walking
unscathed, on the prowl for the next possible victim. Hypocrisy! Sheer
hypocrisy

Rohit Rebelo: Based on the pictures shown I find it hard to
fathom how hard it is to ‘fall’ over the barrier. There’s no way the barrier
for the tiger’s enclosure is less than 6-7 feet tall, meaning he had to have
jumped over

Qammar Hakim: The irony is that people had all the time in
the world to make a video, but not one, not one soul helped save the guy
