PANJIM: FC Goa’s midfielder Ferran Corominas is off to a dream start in his debut season of the Indian Super League after his scintillating performance on Thursday.
The Spanish forward enthralled the jam-packed Stadium after he scored a fine hat-trick and rescued the home side with a nervy 4-3 win over Bengaluru FC.
Coro now holds two vital records in the season four as he became the first player to score in this edition, then went on to score a hat-trick. “Well, I’m happy to be scoring on a personal note, but happier that the goals are contributing to the team’s wins. We have to follow the idea of sticking to our style of football and that’s all that counts really,” said Coro.
Scoring goals haven’t been a problem for the Gaurs in this season as Sergio Lobera’s men are working and following on his philosophy of an attacking football. FC Goa has managed to score eight goals in just three outings wherein they took nine games to reach the same in the ISL season three under the guidance of Brazilian legend Zico. Where the seven goals conceded in three games is the biggest concern as they took seven matches to concede the same number of goals last season.
“I think when we score goals, we do it as a team and when we concede we do it as a team. We have to work together more to work on some aspects and I’m sure we’ll do better as the season goes along,” Coro explained. The Spaniard revealed further added, “We’ll keep improving and get most of the things right than wrong.”
The team received warm welcome as 18,600 fans gathered at the Stadium and backed the Gaurs throughout the 90 minutes. Despite a second half scare from the visitors after levelling terms at the hour mark, Coro snatched vital three points against the 10-men Bengaluru FC.
“It was good to play in front of the home fans and get a win. We were very keen to get the three points here and make sure we had six points by the end of the night. The ambience in the stadium was really good and very motivating to play in front of a full crowd,” Coro concluded.
