Villagers from the coastal villages of Nauxi, Bambolim, Siridao, Cacra, Aggasaim, Goa Velha, Odxel and other areas have opposed the proposed marina project.
At a press conference held on Friday, the villagers have demanded that such projects not be allowed on the coast. Pointing out that it will have a detrimental effect on the natural beauty of the river and simultaneously destroy the fishing culture of the villages, they warned about the displacement and disruption to their way of life and livelihood.
“This is a project that we have been opposing since 2010. This project will affect the entire coastal area, biodiversity, marine life from Dona Paula to Aggasaim, “said one of the villagers.
The villagers have threatened to protest on the streets if the scheduled public hearing date on the project is not postponed.
