Garden in Porvorim is not a priority

Porvorim is expanding fast from all sides and gardens are rightly called the lungs of the city.

At least there is a thoughtful provision for recreation of the residents at Porvorim, an area of about 5000 m2 approximately. It is located in a central prime land with residential and popular commercial settlements around and with NH17 on either side. There should have been at least an attempt by the agency concerned to clear the site of thick under growth, shrubs and bushes giving the appearance of an unkempt jungle and making it safe for visitors. That request/ suggestion is by no means a tall demand costing a colossal amount. Private partnerships could be explored in case of paucity of funds. Shockingly, available open spaces inside are littered with alcohol bottles smashed to smithereens, posing a great danger. The only gate is unserviceable and dislodged, which enables anti-social elements a safe haven after sundown. There is absolutely no check on undesirable activities at the place. It does not look a priority for anyone to attract voters with a bait and promise. Clearing the site is no big deal that it requires stupendous expenditure rather than the will and sensitivity to public need and well deserving facility. When the facility with a few recreational provisions in utter neglect already exists, all it takes is a minimum interest to develop and spruce the place and put it on track as a most needed, desirable facility. Actually in a place like Porvorim, availability of a new place and further making a provision can be an uphill task. A very vocal, local legislator should not be goaded, prodded or pleaded to see to the reality. May be it has not dawned upon him that it should be taken up suo motu as another  plan that deserves worthy consideration should be pursued with all his interests at the earliest.
