SARZORA: Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao defeated United Club of Benaulim 8-7 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the Assumpta Cup at SAG ground, Sarzora, on Tuesday. At the end of regulation time, both the teams failed to open an account.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, CSM Taleigao were on target through Rohan Viegas, Vandhon Haldonkar, Gaitam Kankonkar, Ramesh Palkar, Salu Santos, Francis Rebello, Newton Azavedo andVikram Balekar while United Club of Benaulim scored with the efforts of Sugithesh, Rudy, Stevan, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Kegan and Paulo.
On Monday, Betalbatim SC pipped Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to move into the semi-finals. Both the teams, went on attacking from the word go.
Klinsman Pereira was the hero of the match for Betalbatim SC as he scored the match winner and provided two good assists in the 8th and 10th minutes to Austern Fernandes but the latter shot wide.
Aulon Gomes squandered an opportunity to score for Navelim Villager Union in the 25th minute. In the 46th minute, Austern fed the ball to Klinsman but the rival defender tackled it with ease.
Crossing over, Klinsman netted the lone goal in the 47th minute of a free kick from outside the rival box.
