The All Goa Private Bus Owners’ Association has called for a meeting on Friday (December 17) of all transport associations in the T B Cunha Hall, here, to decide on the further course of action into the hike in fees for grant of fresh permits and renewals.
The Government vide a notification in the official gazette had hiked the fees for grant and renewal of permits prompting the Secretary of AGPBOA Sudip Tamankar to call the Transport Minister and the Chief Minister to intervene into the matter. He also requested the State Transport Authority to take a sympathetic view of the situation.
AGPBOA had also made a representation along with the All Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association and the All India Tourist Taxi Owners on November 29, 2010. It maintained some of the operators could not pay hike in renewal fees and had to keep their vehicles off road with the hope the Government would review the decision.
