PANJIM: The Vaigankars and another family are sleeping on chairs for the last four days since their houses have been flooded. The reason for the flooding has been the haphazard building of houses both in front and behind their residence and no channel has been kept for the water to flow down the hill.

Speaking to mediapersons, Uday Vaigankar said, “The house has been inundated for the last four days. Many buildings have come up and there is no way for the water to go out. This house was constructed during the Portuguese era. I have a licence which I had shown to the Mamlatdar. The water has been entering in this house for the last five years. Many new buildings have come up. There has to be proper drainage for water to move out. Water is being pumped out for the last two days.”
