BJP-BBSM fracas gets uglier

Vinay Tendulkar attacks Pundalik Naik

PANJIM: Two days after the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) tagged the BJP as the ‘father of all liars’, the saffron party shot back at the former calling one of its leaders the most dangerous liar.
The differences between the political party and the outfit on the Medium of Instruction (MoI) took an ugly turn with BJP resorting to personal attacks.
“He (BBSM leader Pundalik Naik) is a ‘maha dangerous liar’. He has no moral right to attack the BJP when he himself is a fraud,” BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said during a press conference at the party headquarters
on Saturday.
He was reacting to Naik’s allegation that BJP was lying to the State on the MoI and that it had not partnered with the BBSM during the 2012 elections. “BJP is the father of all liars,” Naik was quoted as saying at a press conference on Thursday.
Tendulkar recalled that for the former President of Goa Konkani Academy, BJP was not a liar when he held the post for about three years. “He would drive the official vehicle at midnight and meet with accidents. He was reminded at least four times to get the car repaired but he hid the vehicle,” he said in a personal attack against Naik. “Those who live in glass house should not throw stones
at others.”
Asked why the government did not take action against the Konkani writer, Tendulkar said this came to the fore during the audit, conducted every three years.
Meanwhile, after claiming that MGP’s exit from the coalition will not affect the BJP in the 2017 elections, the latter said that it will indeed contest the polls in coalition with the regional party. “We will contest the elections with MGP,” Tendulkar said.
With strategies being planned for the ensuing elections, the party will, on Sunday, hold an executive committee meeting wherein the State and Union budget will also be discussed.
